How to Choose Between Contact Lenses and Eyeglasses
As people continue to age, their eyes will naturally become weaker and weaker. For the majority of people, this will eventually require having corrective eyewear in order to see clearly. If you do need corrective eyewear, the two most common options are to either get contact lenses or eyeglasses. There are a variety of factors to consider when determining whether you want contacts or glasses.
Maintenance of Eyewear
One factor to consider when you are trying to decide between glasses and contacts is the amount of maintenance that you are willing to take on. When you have a set of glasses, there is not much work that needs to be done other than occasionally cleaning the lenses. However, when you have contacts, you may need to have them cleaned daily and remember to remove them each night. If you do not do this and put them into your eye, it could be very bad for your eye health.
Level of Activity
If you are an active participant in sports or life to run around, it could be hard to have a normal set of eyeglasses. Not only are they inconvenient, but they also could be dangerous if they break while you are playing. If you would like to be active and be able to run around freely, wearing contacts could be the better option. If not, you could also consider getting a set of prescription goggles that will correct your vision while also protecting your eye.
